International Conference on Social Work in Health and Mental Health
The 10th International Conference on Social Work in Health and Mental Health (ICSWHMH) was held from Tuesday 19 November to Friday 22 November 2024 in Melbourne. This hybrid event brought together more than 1100 national and international delegates from across the globe.
For the first time in 27 years, the International Conference on Social Work in Health and Mental Health (ICSWHMH) made its way to Australia. This significant event in 2024 successfully brought together social work professionals, researchers, educators, and students from around the world to discuss and share the latest developments in the field of social work in health and mental health.
The 10th ICSWHMH featured keynote presentations from Tom Calma AO (Aus), Associate Professor Heather Boetto (Aus), Dr Michael Ungar (Can), and Dr Cindy Blackstock (Can), who shared their expertise in the field of Social Work. The program was bursting with presentations, workshops, and panel discussions on various topics related to social work practice across 62 different themes in health and mental health settings.
Delegates were able to connect with peers, share ideas, and explore new approaches to tackling the complex challenges that individuals and communities face when in need of social work services.
The Conference covered a breadth of topics, including mental health, private practice, child, youth & family services, disability management, leadership, family dynamics, domestic & gendered violence, counselling & therapy, aged care, child protection, addiction, alcohol, social justice & human rights & equality, climate change, and sustainability, among others.
