    AF-Legal-Announcement

We are excited to announce our partnership with AF Legal Group Ltd, including its brands Australian Family Lawyers and Armstrong Legal, to offer a free legal consultation service for all our members and their families. This collaboration provides AASW members with a complimentary legal consultation covering a range of legal issues that our members often face. Areas of expertise include Family law, Domestic Violence and Contested wills and estates.

Members or their families are entitled to one complimentary consultation (up to 45 mins) per financial year with a lawyer from Australian Family Lawyers or Armstrong Legal, provided the query falls within their area of expertise. If a referral is made to another law firm for an initial consultation, a fee may apply. Should a fee incurring referral be made, your entitlement to one free 45 minute consultation each year will not be impacted.

The AASW is committed to ensuring the most comprehensive range of referral pathways to our members seeking legal advice. The AASW continues to strive to establish partnerships that we believe our members will benefit from. Please note that while we aim to encompass the widest range of specialist legal partnerships, additional external referrals may also be required. It is our aim to facilitate, where possible, the most suited referral to ensure that our members receive the legal advice that they require.

    Insurance

AASW members who have insurance related queries and are facing a complaint are encouraged to seek their own independent legal advice.

As part of their membership entitlements, AASW members are covered by $20 million professional indemnity and $30 million public liability insurance coverage, with Berkley Insurance. AASW members who receive a threat of civil litigation and or letter of demand from a lawyer are expected to notify insurer as soon as possible.

AASW members who have made a claim receive one-hour legal counsel with a lawyer as part of their cover and are then referred to a recommended legal professional for ongoing support.

Should you require assistance with any adverse findings or be facing civil litigation, it is essential to notify the Sear Insurance broker of this immediately.
