The ACT Branch is supported by a Branch Management Committee elected by the Branch membership.
The Branch’s key role is to provide local support for AASW members through a range of activities that enable members to network, develop practice skills and organise around social justice issues.
Research and Social Work Practice Group Event
Amelia Wheeler had the pleasure of facilitating a panel event with this amazing group of social work researchers, as part of the University of Canberra’s Research Festival. We discussed the unique features and potential of social work research to partner with communities in pursuit of social justice.
Thank you Dr Jessica Russ-Smith Renata Kiss Jaimie Barry Lynne Keevers and Larissa Margaret for sharing your insights and ideas for how we might continue to ensure research is accessible for social workers and community members, here on Ngunnawal Country / ACT.
Thanks also to Adrienne Walls-Nichols and Kailey Tonini and Rhys Thorpe for your support of this event, and of the local research community.
Thanks to everyone who attended and registered – we will be circulating a recording of the panel discussion soon!
The Research and Social Work Practice Group welcomes anyone who is interested in social justice oriented research to reach out and connect with the Practice Group, we meet bi-monthly in hybrid mode (face to face in Canberra).
