The Queensland Branch, with over 2,800 members, is supported by a voluntary Branch Management Committee elected by the Branch membership. We service and represent Social Workers from the southern border north to Rockhampton.

The Branch’s key role is to provide local support for AASW members through a range of activities that enable members to network, develop practice skills and organise around social justice issues. The Branch Management Committee provides the conduit for communications between members in Queensland.

2024 UniSC Qld AASW Social Worker of the Year Award Winner - Julia Laning

On 1 May 2024 the University of the Sunshine Coast held their Student Awards at the Sippy Downs Campus. QLD AASW Branch President Leonie Vela attended the Awards and was pleased to witness Deputy Vice Chancellor Michael Wilmore present Master of Social Work student, Julia Laning with the QLD AASW 2024 Social Work Student of the Year Award.

World Social Work Day Event - Brisbane

A wonderful Queensland branch event was held for #WSWD2024.

The Sunshine Coast Practice Group is delighted to have a new date for the reschedule of the World Social Work Day Picnic which was cancelled due to poor weather.
