The VIC Branch is supported by a Branch Management Committee elected by the Branch membership.

The Branch’s key role is to provide local support for AASW members through a range of activities that enable members to network, develop practice skills and organise around social justice issues.

Jane Miller had a varied social work career working in
hospitals, in policy development and program
management in the Victorian Public Service and as an
equal opportunity conciliator.
She was head of Social Work at the RCH from 1993 to
2007. On retirement she completed a PhD at the
University of Melbourne and last year Monash
University Publishing published her book “For Social
Betterment” based on her thesis. Her talk will focus on
the people and organisations who founded social work
education in Victoria in the late 1920s and early 1930s
and will include discussion of the early social workers at
RCH.
