Presenter details
Dr Kerryn Bagley is a lecturer in social work at La Trobe University and a researcher at the La Trobe Living with Disability Research Centre. Her research interest stems from extensive practice experience in health and mental health services with individuals and families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
She is an active contributor to capacity building for FASD services and support in Australia and was the inaugural co-chair of the Australian and New Zealand FASD clinical network. Kerryn now co-chairs the Victorian FASD Special Interest Group. She is an ambassador for NOFASD Australia, the national peak organisation supporting families affected by FASD and is a member of the Government’s National FASD Advisory Group.
Dr Leanne Beagley has been the Chief Executive Officer at Mental Health Australia since April 2020. Her background includes clinical qualifications in Occupational Therapy and Family Therapy, as well as a Masters of Business Leadership and a PhD in Psychology in organisational culture and performance.
Prior to working at Mental Health Australia Leanne worked for Western Victoria Primary Health Network as the Chief Executive Officer for three years.
With 15 years’ experience in direct mental health care in clinical settings in Melbourne, Leanne is also a former Director of Mental Health and Drugs at the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, a role she held for five years. She also has a range of experience as a non-executive Director on a variety of Boards including the Western Alliance Academic Health Science Centre, Tweddle Child and Family Health Centre, and Eating Disorders Victoria.

Emma McBride is the Federal Member for Dobell on the Central Coast of NSW. She was first elected in 2016 and following her re-election in 2019, Emma was appointed Labor’s Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Shadow Assistant Minister for Carers. She is now the Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, and Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health. Emma is a registered pharmacist who has worked in the health sector for over 20 years, both in Australia and abroad. She was a Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist and the Chief Pharmacist at Wyong Hospital for nearly 10 years and, prior to entering Parliament, she was the Deputy Director of Pharmacy for Central Coast Local Health District. Emma’s background and experience as a healthcare professional led her to Parliament, where she fights for better health services for all Australians.
Emma is a passionate advocate for quality healthcare, close to home. She understands the unique challenges facing rural and regional communities when it comes to accessing healthcare and she hopes to play a role in shaping public policy that promotes the health and wellbeing of every Australian, regardless of where they live.
