Over 60% of men who die by suicide have been in contact with mental health services prior to their death. As therapists, when men come through our door, we need to ensure we're offering therapy that meets them where they're at. The aim of this webinar is to increase therapists' awareness, skills and confidence to engage, connect with, and respond more effectively to their male clients.
This webinar was presented by the AASW NSW Branch.
Presenter
Dr Zac Seidler is a clinical psychologist, the Director of Mental Health Training at Movember and a Senior Research Fellow with Orygen at The University of Melbourne. Zac has worked clinically with men of different ages and presentations from adolescents in Darwin with early psychosis to older HIV+ men struggling with adjustment. Zac is trialling the world's first online program, 'Men in Mind', to train mental health clinicians how to better understand and respond to men's distress. Zac is a member on the advisory committees for White Ribbon, Migration Council of Australia, and Suicide Prevention Australia.
