Empower yourself with the confidence to work with people at risk of violence and what it is like to work as a social work clinician in the field of forensic social work. This webinar will provide an overview and insight into considerations when engaging with people exhibiting violent tendencies. The webinar will introduce the concept of violent offending, what places someone at risk of violence, risk management strategies and an introduction on prioritising safety and well-being.
Who should attend?
This webinar is an introductory session which is aimed at emerging social workers in the forensic field or those in a variety of roles that may as a part of their role come in to contact with clients that have a history of engaging in violence.
Learning Outcomes
· Defining violent behavior and identify why someone may engage in violence.
· Identify criminogenic theories relating to violence and how this relates to the Bio Psycho Social model.
· Understand Assessment and risk management when working with people at risk of engaging in violence.
· Identify strategies to maintain personal safety and de-escalating risk.
· Reflect on self-care in practice with relevance to working with difficult clients.
