World Social Work Day 2025, celebrated on 18 March, embraces the theme "Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing." This presentation highlights the crucial role of school social workers in fostering connections between generations to promote resilience, social support, and student success.
Key topics include the fundamental values of social work, its impact in educational settings, and the alignment of this year’s theme with school social work.
The presentation explores how social workers facilitate intergenerational collaboration through mentorship programmes, community partnerships, and family engagement initiatives. It also addresses the challenges and opportunities in advocating for stronger support networks within schools.
By recognising and celebrating the contributions of school social workers, this session aims to inspire educators, administrators, students, and families to actively support initiatives that enhance intergenerational bonds. Together, we can create inclusive school environments that nurture wellbeing across generations.
About the Presenter
Chantal has been a dedicated member of the Wellbeing Workforce since its initial rollout in April 2022. Passionate about social work and its impact, she believes schools should be a hub for communities—places where individuals feel a sense of belonging and can confidently seek support.
Committed to student success in all its forms, Chantal advocates for the vital role of school social workers in bridging the gap between schools and communities, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive on their own terms.
