As a social worker, you are often on the front line of mental health care encountering clients whose sleep disturbances are intertwined with trauma histories. Recognising and addressing these sleep disorders can lead to more effective interventions and improved outcomes for your clients as well as understanding the complexity of sleep disorders and how crucial it is for effective client care.
By increasing your understanding of sleep disorders and their relationship with trauma, you will enhance your assessment and treatment skills.
This knowledge will empower you to implement trauma informed practice and collaborate more effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Ultimately leading to better support for your clients.

This Program is designed for social workers and mental health professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in sleep disorders, particularly in the context of trauma, ideal participants include social worker, mental health social workers and graduate students will some prior knowledge in sleep disorders looking at increasing knowledge of how trauma and sleep disorders intertwine.

Learning Session 1: Assess and analyse sleep disorders, critically evaluate various sleep disorders their relationship to trauma and apply appropriate screening and assessment techniques: (55 minutes)
Learning Activity 1: Case study and group discussion
Learning Session 2: Implement evidence-based treatment. Explore and apply effective treatment options including cognitive behaviour therapy for Insomnia (cbt-i) with integrating trauma informed care principles: (55 minutes)

Learning Session 3: Develop holistic care plans implement and create comprehensive individualised treatment plans that address the complex needs of clients with sleep related issues, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration for optimal client support:
