Join us for a discussion about how to take care of ourselves as Social Workers and how to assist our clients to celebrate the good and navigate the challenges of the Christmas season.
Celebrating & Surviving the Festive Season - Strategies for self-care and client-care.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year however it can also be a time of greater family complications, financial stresses, increased alcohol intake, and pressures to meet unrealistic expectations thanks to the idealistic images in the media.
It's common to feel pressure to create a magical Christmas, but if we are already stressed, anxious or depressed, that pressure can be magnified.
Specialist services share year after year that December and January are their busiest time of year.
How do we separate our own family stresses from the experiences of our clients? How do we find refreshment and meaning during this silly season and practise the presence of our Emmanuel God, the God who is always with us? How can we equip our clients to manage these seasonal challenges and opportunities?
Come along festively dressed in your favourite Christmas gear as we make room in the Inn of our own hearts to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus … because it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
There will also be some lighthearted fun as we start off the evening with some Christmas games.
