Through Social Work education, we may learn the basics of human development, attachment and the impacts of trauma and neglect. However, the practical application of this knowledge and the skills required of us are difficult to obtain and maintain without a workplace culture of ongoing training, supervision, and support.
Trauma informed practice requires a high-level understanding of our own practice frameworks, and a positive and trauma informed work environment/organisational framework.
Whilst this session does include a brief look into to the neurobiological impact of trauma, the focus of this workshop is on understanding trauma responses from young people, and exploring strategies for supporting them through emotional dysregulation.
