    1. Competition overview

    The “Why Social Work?” competition (“Competition”) is a game of skill where participants are invited to write in 25 words or less why a career in social work matters to them. This competition is run by the Australian Association of Social Workers (“Promoter”).

    2. Eligibility

    The Competition is open to residents of Australia, aged 18 or older, and currently enrolled in an AASW accredited Bachelor of Social Work. Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter are not eligible to enter.

    3. Competition period

    Entries open on Monday 14 October 2024, 9:00am AEST and close Monday 28 October at 5:00pm AEDT. Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted. 

    4. How to enter

    To enter, participants must:

    1. Submit their entry by completing the online form on the competition landing page
    2. Write in 25 words or less why a career in social work matters to them
    3. Provide their contact details, including name and email address.

    Only one entry per person is allowed.

    5. Judging and selection of winner

    This is a game of skill; chance plays no part in determining the winner. Each valid entry will be individually judged based on the most original and sincere 25 words. Judging will take place on Tuesday 29 October by a panel appointed by the Promoter.

    6. Prizes

    The winner will receive an Apple Watch Series 10, valued at $649.

    This prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash, unless otherwise agreed by the Promoter.

    7. Winner Notification

    The winner will be notified via email by 5pm Monday 4 November 2024. If a winner does not respond within 5 days of being notified, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner.

    The name of the winner and the winning entry will also be announced on the AASW website.

    8. Rights to Use Entries

    By entering the Competition, participants consent to the Promoter using their entry for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, websites, and other marketing materials, without compensation.

    9. Privacy and Marketing Consent

    The Promoter collects personal information for the purposes of conducting this Competition. By entering, participants agree to receive marketing communications from the Promoter, including newsletters and promotional materials. Participants can opt-out of receiving these communications at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in the emails. Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Promoter’s privacy policy, available here.

    10. General Conditions

    • The Promoter reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the competition if unforeseen circumstances arise.
    • The Promoter is not responsible for any technical issues or lost, late, or misdirected entries.
