  • Aims and scope

Australian Social Work is an international peer-reviewed journal reflecting current thinking and trends in Social Work practice and research. The Journal promotes the development of Social Work practice, policy, and education, and publishes original research, theoretical papers and critical reviews that build on existing knowledge. The Journal also publishes reviews of relevant professional literature, analyses of social policies, and commentary invited by the Editor, including debate in the form of reader commentary on articles.

Australian Social Work has grown out of the Australian context and continues to provide a vehicle for Australian and international authors to publish on Social Work. The Journal invites submission of manuscripts from authors worldwide. All contributors are required to identify the relevance and implications of their work for Australian and international Social Work practice.

The aims and scope of Australian Social Work demonstrate commitment to acknowledging and understanding the historical and contemporary injustice and disadvantage experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the implications of this for knowledge development, practice, policy, and education. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authors’ contributions to the Journal are highly valued.

    Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the First Australians, whose lands, winds, and waters we all now share, and pay respect to their unique values, and their continuing and enduring cultures, which deepen and enrich the life of our nation and communities.

    Peer Review Policy:

All articles in this journal have undergone a rigorous anonymous peerreview process which involves initial screening by the Editors, expert review by a minimum of two anonymous reviewers and plagiaris screening.
