    Eligibility

    You can become a member of AASW if you hold an AASW approved social work qualification from an Australian tertiary institution, or qualification from overseas that has been recognised by AASW as comparable to an AASW approved social work qualification.

    Eligibility for Member Reduced

    Members who meet the criteria below may be eligible for a reduced fee membership. You will need to:

    1. hold either an AASW accredited social work qualification from an Australian tertiary institution, or social work qualification from overseas that has been assessed and the applicant has been determined to be eligible for AASW membership, and
    2. have a combined taxable income, (i.e. total personal income from all sources) that is below the AASW low income threshold of $67,340 pa.

    Members whose financial income changes during the year and increases beyond the low income threshold are required to advise the Membership Team who will invoice them for the balance of full fee for the year.

    Note: you may be asked to provide evidence of your taxable income from the prior year and current income to verify your eligibility for the reduced fee membership type).

    To apply, you’ll need to create an account in MyAASW. You’ll also need the following documents:

    • A certified copy of your degree, official academic transcript, letter of completion from your university or a link to your My eQuals.
